Charcoal on faded drawing cardboard, NT 1149
From the mid-1920s, Käthe Kollwitz produced some works showing children in completely carefree, typical situations from their everyday lives. Among the most charming and best-known is this depiction of an everyday scene which was created in 1927.
Two curious little girls are seen standing in the stairwell, excitedly leaning over the bannister or peeping through the bars, maybe in expectation of visitors.
